Jane Birkin’s daughter, French model/actress has posed topless for the March 2008 cover of French Playboy.
Now before you starting thinking bunnies and the Playboy mansion, French Playboy is slightly different from its American counterpart. Repositioned last October, they have made a concerted effort to get rid of the cookie cutter girls, to take the magazine back to the glamour of the 1970s with more in-depth articles and fiction pieces.
In an intereview with Lci.fr, Yan Ceh, Playboy’s Editor in Chief said that they’re making an effort to get photographers that celebrities know – and work for fashion magazines like Vogue or Number.
“These photographers, celebrities know,” he said. “They know that their photos are not degrading and they can choose those that will be published.”
Getting Doillon to pose for the magazine was not hard, with Ceh adding that “she dreamed of posing for the magazine” since the age of 12. “The photo session took place perfectly. It was an artistic approach, playful and light that has nothing to do with the fact of being naked, for example, tabloid trash.”
Not a bad effort for a magazine that’s trying to devote themselves to actresses people admire and respect. Even if it is Playboy.
The Lou Doillon covered issue hits French newsstands Friday, February 29, 2008.
