Karl Lagerfeld has a signature look – his white ponytail, the white shirt and black suit, his leather fingerless driving gloves and his sunglasses. So it comes as no surprise that together with Marchon Eyewear the Chanel and Fendi creative director has released the Karl Lagerfeld eyewear collection.
“Karl has such a strong personality,” recalled Giancarla Agnoli, senior vice president of design at Marchon. “It’s not just interpreting a vision, it’s interpreting a personality that is so iconic in the fashion world. And he has so many interests – music, photography, fashion – so it was almost like, where does one begin?”
The designers took cues from Lagerfeld’s penchant for bold black-and-white shapes with a Sixities intellectual feel and aviator shapes, with a pair of frames featuring details which resembled an old-fashioned film roll on the temple.
The Karl Lagerfeld eyewear collection will launch in high end retailers this month – read more about the Lagerfeld and Marchon developmental process at WWD.
The Karl Lagerfeld brand will expand even more when Lagerfeld launches his first signature fragrance in collaboration with Coty.
