One designer won this years Melbourne Fashion Festival Tiffany’s Designer Award, the other was a finalist, now the two up and coming Australian designers will be designing a collection each for Target Australia’s Designer’s for Target initiative this spring.
Yeojin Bae and Gail Sorronda will follow in the footsteps of past Target Australia collaborators, Josh Goot and Stella McCartney. Look forward to no-fuss romantic dresses from Bae, and chic black and white pieces from Sorronda.
“We’re thrilled to have two of Australia’s ground breaking designers on board as a part of the Designers for Target program,” says Target’s General Manager of Womenswear, Larice Lewis. “Yeojin Bae and Gail Sorronda have been incredibly successful in their own right and we expect their collections for Target to make a huge impact on the fashion scene this spring.”
The collaboration will see the new addition of shoes and accessories and swimwear. Prices start from $50 for a top, $70 for swimwear and $150 for dresses, and will arrive in selected Target stores from October 13, 2007.

The Yeojin Bae stuff looks beautiful! Shame the collection won’t hit the States.
I’m so excited about this collection. The clothes actually look beautiful – much more interesting than the Josh Goot stuff. The prices are a little stiff for the Yeojin Bae stuff don’t you think? I know some of the dresses are made from silk or satin, but it’s suppose to be Target for crying out loud!
I was surprised at the prices, especially considering the prices of items from previous Designers for Target collections. The Alice McCall bow print dress was only $130!
I do like the natural coloured linen dress by Yeojin Bae. But I cannot see myself paying the $199 price tag of many of the items. It will be interesting to see how the collection will sell.
No matter what, it will certainly introduce these designers to a broader market.
Yeah, Gail is the best huh. I got to watch shooting of the latest range in Paris recently. I grabbed a photo of Gail as well:
