Roland Mouret for GAP

Somehow amid all the fashion week news, the news that Roland Mouret is designing 10 dresses for France and Britain GAP stores got a little lost.

This is the first project between Mouret and Simon Fuller that has been announced to the public. And it’s not a shabby one at all, especially coming from the man who created the Galaxy dress that sparked more than a handful of copies worldwide by “fast fashion” stores.

And as Vogue.co.uk reports:

Three of Mouret’s designs will be sold as part of the Gap (PRODUCT) RED collection – 50 per cent of the profits they generate will go to The Global Fund to fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria that was set up by Bono and Bobby Shriver earlier this year. “I was interested in the opportunity to make my designs available to a broader audience and was particularly excited about the Gap (PRODUCT) RED involvement,” Mouret said this morning. “This initiative is so important and Gap has given me the opportunity to be able to translate my ideas in a more casual sensibility and at the same time help raise funds that will target the Aids pandemic in Africa. This is my first project as 19RM.”

With Viktor & Rolf for H&M out in November, all of you in France or Britain on or around November 7, get your credit cards and queuing up shoes ready. Dresses are due to be priced from £45-£78.
