I love a day spa, who doesn’t? You get utterly pampered and come out feeling refreshed and relaxed. As part of my recently trip to the Gold Coast on a famil trip, we stayed at the trendy QT Hotel on the Gold Coast. Known for it’s great vibe during the day and it’s party atmosphere at night (with a no schoolies attendees allowed policy in November), it is the place to stay when you’re on the GC.
Of course no hotel stay would be complete without a treatment at the SpaQ? The SpaQ Gold Coast menu is tailored specifically for the Gold Coast spa, so we wanted to sample it all. Unfortunately we only had an hour free so that wrote off the complete pamper packages (damn – but also I wanted to be out of there in time for dinner at the hotels Bazaar restaurant). But after a chat with the spa manager we came to the decision to go for a Skin Rescue massage in the hour – usually you would need 120 minutes to do both, so I was utterly grateful that the staff could accommodate me for both treatments in one.
The traditional Skin Rescue treatment included: Warm Oil Back Massage + Signature Aloe Wrap + Refresh Facial + Scalp Treatment & Massage + Neck & Shoulder Massage.
Since time was of the essence we cut that down to a massage, wrap and neck and shoulder massage. Which was what I wanted anyway.
The Experience
Can I just describe it in one word? Relaxing. Of I will elaborate.
We often forget to take time out to treat ourselves so the Skin Rescue treatment is perfect for an all over restoration of your mind and body. The treatment’s main goal is to penetrate over exposed skin and hair with a moisture explosion and restore every part of you.
Starting with a foot ritual, it’s followed up by a warm oil back massage. Then comes a nourishing blend of aloe vera with tangerine and rose oil before you’re tenderly swaddled in natural cloth that helps your skin soak up the goodness. This is where you’re given a head massage and hair treatment and facial, but I didn’t have time for those things so we skipped straight to a blissful inducing scalp, neck and shoulder massage.
It was heavenly.
The Spa
What I love about the QT Hotels is that they have character and their spa did not let you down. Continuing with the bright and airy theme of the hotel, the Spa Q sits in a sun filled corner of the hotel, you’re greeted by a relaxing waiting area which also overlooks the busy manicurists hard at working making the girls on holidays look their very best.
Once you have checked in you are whisked away into the changing rooms, asked to put on a silk robe that is reminiscent of being a boxer and you sip tea in a waiting room until your therapist is takes you to the treatment room. Which of course continues the beach theme with a surfing print on one wall of the room.
If facials and massages are not your cup of tea (of which they have many types of – tea that is), then you can get your other touch up treatments like waxings and a mani pedi. Did we mention that SpaQ uses USpa products which are beautiful products that is an lovely natural Australian brand.
