Review: The Langham Sydney

Sydney is full of many beautiful luxury hotels, known for their views, their service and their food. The one hotel known for their amazing high teas and luxurious settings is The Langham Sydney and we were lucky enough to stay and enjoy high tea there.

Reopened in December 2014 after a multi-million dollar renovation, the luxury hotel is situated just behind the hustle and bustle of The Rocks area of Sydney, popular with tourists and locals alike for the views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The Langham Hotels are known for their charming old world décor, but The Langham Sydney was brightened and whitened for its relaunch, with beautiful from Sotheby’s $1 million art collection, brilliant natural light and spacious reception and lounge areas.

All of the light and space extended into the opulent Junior Suite we stayed in (pictured above), with views over Sydney Harbour of Balmain. Greeted by a fresh paint job and beautiful furniture, the junior suite was one of the biggest we’ve seen in Sydney, boasting a king sized bed, couch, desk area and arm chairs all carefully placed around the room for comfort and convenience.

“Sydney is a glamourous city, like Paris or New York and we wanted to cater to people who are aspirational about these style of cities without the experience being intimidating,” said General Manager, Sonia Lefevre.

“Mixology with jazz after 5pm, the biggest guestrooms and suites in Sydney, gastronomical cocktails at the click of a finger, dog friendly suites, private butler tennis afternoons – lots of unique offerings. Our public spaces have changed dramatically but they are still very warm and welcoming.”

Our favourite extras at The Langham Sydney

  • High tea with Wedgwood at Palm Court
Even if you’re not staying at The Langham Sydney, high tea at Palm Court is a must-do with your girlfriends or your female family members. The freshly baked pastries and fresh cut sandwiches are just what you need for a relaxing high tea experience, topped off with warm scones and the lightest cream we’ve had in a while. Add a delicious tea or some bubbly and you have a decadent afternoon in one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Sydney.
  • The Day Spa at The Langham, Sydney
Often named as one of the best luxury spa’s in Sydney, The Day Spa is a must-visit place, unfortunately not one we were able to visit while we were there. The luxury underground facility features a 20 metre pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam rooms, along with specialised therapists working with Babor and Carita products who provide luxurious treatments.

We definitely recommend staying at The Langham Sydney, whether for a holiday or a staycation. The staff were lovely and very accommodating and a stroll around The Rocks area after a delicious buffet breakfast was perfect before we settled down for High Tea.

Our stay at The Langham Sydney was complimentary. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Thank you very much Helen Lee from the bottom of my heart for sharing this kind of awesome blog with us about how to live successfully in Sydney and what should we do in the case of finding an awesome house.

Is the stunning pool still in situ? I stayed at the Langham on my first trip to Sydney well over a decade ago and fell in love with that gorgeous pool; clearly it’s time to go back and have a refresher minibreak!
