It has been 6 years since Gemma Ward has been working in the fashion industry, but the Australian supermodel has returned to fashion with much aplomb, first walking for Prada (back to where it all started for her over 10 years ago) and now cementing her long-awaited return to modelling staring in a short film and Summer 2014/15 campaign for Australia’s leading fashion and lifestyle brand Country Road.
Country Road Managing Director Sophie Holt says; “We are so proud of this campaign. It calls out the freedom and joy of the Australian summer, the simple pleasures of time spent with family and friends, the natural beauty of our landscape. Gemma was amazing to work with – very relaxed on set, very professional, and strikingly beautiful”.
Shot among the rugged beauty of Seal Rocks and Whale Beach in coastal NSW, the sun-drenched film depicts everyday summer rituals and evokes feelings of nostalgia. Gemma portrays a new mother enjoying a holiday at her family beach house with her baby. Mirroring moments of Ward’s own life it provides glimpses of beautiful moments shared with her 10 month year old daughter Naia, born in December last year, who also stars in the film.
“The film really sums up an Australian summer for me,” Ward said. “Sharing the location with my daughter was phenomenal, she loves the beach and playing with her in the water is one thing I cherish. The shoot felt so natural and organic for me – I felt very much at home.”
One thing we have to say is… Gemma doesn’t look like she has aged at all. And aren’t we all glad it’s summer again in Autralia?
