Confession: I love online shopping. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t check at least a dozen online stores for their newly uploaded items or freshly marked down bargains. I also don’t discriminate between department stores sites, high street brands and deal sites. But what gets me every time is the changing exchange rates and the international transaction fees on my credit card. Space.NK.apothecary is always worth a visit as being the source of some must-have but hard to find beauty brands and products. Then we hit Europe with aplomb, first jumping on a imaginary EuroStar train to Paris and hitting up Colette on the Rue-Saint Honore for some avant garde designs, then getting some pasta and amazing European designs from LuisaViaRoma and Yoox. Then it was on to the USA for some Pixie Market high-street style action and then on to Shopbop for the aforementioned Zimmermann bikini.
That quick whirl around the world took us probably an hour from the comfort of our living room and saved us the drama of working out the conversion rates and getting charged an extra international transaction fee. Which means, we often get a fantastic rate and save a little bit of extra cash by having a locked in exchange rate.
