It was only a matter of time when the instantly identifiable shoes from Prada’s spring summer 2008 collection would inspire the high street chains and their shoe designs.
Can you guess which shoe pictured above is the Prada Wavy Heel Mary-Jane and which is the Topshop Rainbow Swirl Platform sandal?
Let us know what you think before seeing the answer below.
Want to know which is which?
The Topshop Rainbow Swirl Platform sandal is the shoe on the right, retail at £65 it’s made of 100% leather and would be quite an interesting shoe if the Prada Wavy Heel Mary Jane (left) didn’t come before it.
Made from gold metallic leather featuring a black suede trim, the craftsmanship and imagination behind this shoe has to be considered when observing the price – it originally retailed at $720 before being marked down 25% to $540. Unfortunately only a size 10 (IT40) is left on the Neiman Marcus website, so if you want to purchase the real thing, you can get a very similar Prada shoe on BlueFly (if you’re a size 8.5 and 10).
Would you buy either shoe, and how would you wear it?
Strangely enough, I much prefer the topshop pair. Less avant guarde and more wearable!
I like the the top shop ones too. HAHA but I wouldn’t call it a scandal.
Topshop for me.
Prada has way too much gold in it. Looks like something a hoochie grandma would wear to her retirement social.
I love the prada shoe. I expected the shoe on the left to be the topshop even though I think the lower shoe is a lot classier and looks more well made. I think the prada shoe is much more wearable because of the lower platform and I adore the wide heal. I think it is unique and fun. The ankle strap is kind of overkill, seems like the shoe would work just as well without it. I don’t like the topshop shoe at all. Too much platform. Looks like a stripper shoe.
Wheee! I got it right! I still vastly prefer the topshop, though
The Prada pair is the nicest. Far more elegant.
