MBFWA: Talulah launches swimwear in the ‘Chasing Rainbows’ show

When we first heard the name of the Talulah Summer 2013/14 collection was ‘Chasing Rainbows,’ we immediately envisioned a show full of young, fun and colourful prints that just oozed summer. In true Talulah style, this was certainly the case.

Any Talulah show is generally bound to impress, and this collection was made all the more special with the launch of Talulah Swim, which designer Kelli Wharton described as a natural progression for the brand.

“Our collections always have a strong focus on modern prints … Talulah Swim is for the girl who wants her fashion reflected at the beach,” Wharton said.

The swimwear was certainly a fun and welcome inclusion to the collection, with designs ranging from one extreme to the other. We saw a mixture of mod one pieces and bikinis, before swapping to the colourful end of the spectrum with bright and playful swimsuits that provided and electric mix of colours and were complete with frills.

The extensive range of clothing too ranged from chic, structured black and white monochrome looks, to the light and flowing dresses that Talulah does so well. Inspired by the colours and textures of a spring garden, the various jackets, dresses and skirts were ultimately wearable and fun.

Metallics are definitely set to be the ‘big thing’ for summer, and not just when it comes to clothes. Each of the models’ nails were doused in sparkling silver polish, while their hair was worn long and straight after a bouncy blow dry. Max Factor makeup artist Liz Kelsh kept the beauty look natural and fresh, with the focus on a simple pink lip.
