I’ve always been a bit boring when it comes to colour cosmetics. Unless you’re talking to me about nail polish or lipstick. Recently I was sent the entire L’Oreal Paris nail polish collection (lucky me – there are 31 of them in total) which I was already enamoured with. Why am I such a fan of them? Firstly because they are only $6.95 each (I loathe paying $20 for a bottle of nail polish), the brush is amazing, there are such a good range of colours and they have pretty good wear. Need I say more?
With so many amazing colours to choose from, a friend and I thought it would be so much fun to paint our nails in colour gradients. She did yellow > orange > red while I kept it safe with a red/pink > red > burgundy. She refused to let me photograph her for this blog post, so instead I got to strike a silly pose and show off my nails.
The colours we chose were: Burgundy Diva (406), Scarlet Vamp (404), Femme Fatale (403), Rouge Pin Up (401), Opulent Pink (211). And since we’re not always so fancy with our nails, I thought I’d throw in my other favourite colour from the range, a lovely pearly blue grey, Luxembourg Garden (608).
Best thing about gradient nails? I don’t need to master a fancy trick or see a nail artist to get on to the nail art bandwagon. I call it Nail Polish Fun 101.
Disclosure: We were sent the L’Oreal Paris nail polish for editorial consideration but we love the polishes enough that when we run out we definitely be paying to restock.
It would be fun to do a gradient with color changing nail polish from this place delsol.com .
