Cats vs Dogs is an age old argument – one that is probably older than the ‘is the glass full of half empty’? But what happens when you have that discussion with fashion people? Well the other day it lead to a discussion about just how adorable (and spoilt) Karl Lagerfeld’s white Siamese kitten Choupette is. Not only does that bundle of fur have a handbag named after her, she also has her own twitter account, eats with Lagerfeld at the table, plays on its own iPad and has two personal maids.
But Choupette isn’t the only spoilt fashion pet, remember in Valentino: The Last Emperor where we got introduced Valentino Garavani‘s five pugs – Milton, Monty, Maude, Margot, Maggie and Molly – as they followed the now-retired fashion designer around? Not only were they well behaved but they flew with Valentino in his private jet and went wherever he went.
So are fashion designers dog, cat or parrot (true story, Roberto Cavalli owns a pet Parrot called Oro) people? We compiled a list and it tilts overwhelmingly to the dog side. Even if we add Grace Coddington (although she is the Creative Director of Vogue, she’s not a fashion designer) to the “Cat person” list. Check out the list below.
