At just 24 years of age with only a handful of Hollywood movies under her belt, Australian actress Bella Heathcote has been chosen by Edwina McCann, the newly appointed Editor in Chief of Vogue Australia, as her first cover girl.
“I first set eyes on Bella when she walked into the launch of Gucci’s new store in Sydney,” said McCann in a release. “The whole room turned to stare. With her doe eyes and long legs, it will come as no surprise that this Melbourne–raised talent has also modelled… I decided there at that dinner that she was a cover girl, and feel lucky to have her on my first Vogue as editor.”
The September 2012 cover was styled by former RUSSH magazine editor and now a New York based stylist, Stevie Dance and photographed by Will Davidson. Inside the issue McCann has also put together Joel Edgerton with supermodel Crystal Renn in an editorial shoot, showing off power suiting with a sci-fi edge.
According to the release, McCann’s return to Vogue was like a homecoming when she took over the reigns at Vogue Australia from Kirstie Clements.
“I started my career at Vogue almost 20 years ago to the day as a fashion assistant. The most wonderful thing about working at Vogue is the amazing women you work alongside and the impact they have on your life.”
It will be refreshing to see McCann’s revitalisation of Vogue Australia, including the new-look Vogue.com.au which promises daily news updates and it’s very own blogger network. The revamped Vogue.com.au is due to be launched in September just before Vogue’s Fashions Night Out.
The September 2012 issue of Vogue Australia featuring Bella Heathcote on teh cover hits newsstands on Wednesday August 1st.
