It was Parisian chic meets Sydney cool at Toi et Moi today during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia today, with the show opening in the cutest possible way to set the vibe: the singer-guitarist duo of Charlie Milligan and Marc Dewitte transported us to the streets of Paris. Charlie, only a young schoolgirl, seriously impressed us with her French melody, and we were set for the rest of the Parisian experience.
The bright explosion of citrus colour in the first look’s head-to-toe neon orange bomber jacket and capri pant combo was enough to temporarily blind us, so bright was the colour in the dark tent. It looks like neon orange is set to be a major hue this summer, with varying shades of the colour consistent throughout the show. Coral was another hot hue, with playful shift dresses and shorts shown in the colour, while a long-sleeved salmon lace dress was one of the standout pieces of the collection.
Pastels then made a brief appearance in the form of fitted capri dresses and free-flowing maxis, followed by dresses, shirts and skirts in a paisley print. One of our favourite looks was the long-sleeved paisley shirt teamed with an electric black sequinned skirt- we thought it was the perfect combination of country French style and chic nights out in Sydney.
Another favourite look from the collection was the metallic embellished pant suit, which gave the otherwise super-girly show a tougher edge. A wearable show, it
It was chic collection that should sell well in stores.
