In a week where we’ve seen a lot of pastels in collections, so we loved that Sara Phillips showcased a bold use of colour in her installation presentation at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, where electric cobalt blue and fire-engine red ruled.
Named ANIMALIA, the presentation was a nostalgic collection of stunning prints, ranging from delicate oriental inspired fine china, to eclectic florals, and even wild zoo motifs, complete with a crowned lion. Yes, the collection was bold, brave and outrageous- and we loved it.
Varying shades of blue dominated tailored pants, crisp blazers and floaty dresses, ranging from cobalt to a deep sky-blue, before fading into a gentle pastel. (Yes, there were still some pastels in this collection.) Two of this seasons’ hottest looks made appearances, with printed pants being paired with clashing printed peplum tops. As one of the more practical and wearable collections we’ve seen so far, Sara Phillips is definitely on our favourites list.
