There is something about Gary Bigeni. His clothes always look just as amazing on the runway as they do on a rack and on… well me. Known for his artful draping and fluid designs, his spring summer 2012-13 collection shown today at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia was no different.
Like his last spring/summer collection Gary played with different fabrics, mixing silk, jersey, knits and leather together in a cleverly constructed collection. Taking note of the current sportswear trend of clean lines and clever separates, he showed a collection filled with sporty blues and chic neutral tones. Prints also played a huge role in the collection with graphic cubist and bubble prints giving the colour the vibrancy we have come to expect.
Backstage was buzzing in a hive of activity before the show with the talented team at Napoleon Perdis and KMS Hair working their magic with the models. Keeping things low key, Anothony Nader for KMS swooped hair back into a low ponytail with a matte finish while Kate Spiers for Napoleon Perdis created a minimal face with a classic red lip.
It was a chic and well pulled together collection from the man whose clothing label takes up many hangers in my wardrobe.
