Some fashion shows leave you bitterly disappointed, some leave you wanting more, while a rare few simply take your breath away. Tuesday night at MBFWA, Bowie was one of these rare gems that have you lusting after the whole collection.Yes, Every. Single. Piece. (Even if you’re not a bride-to-be.)
There were hints of Armani and Louis Vuitton as inspiration for this collection, with the monochrome silk organza gowns consisting of intricate beading and embellishments, heavy layers, fishtail trains and accentuated waistline detailing. Silks and feathers adorned the gowns, and coupled with the dramatically slow walk of the models, we had ample time to really consider the beauty in front of us. The dewy skin of the models, complete with subtle glitter and ethereal silver eye detail by Napoleon Perdis, only accentuated the beauty of the metallic trim featured on many of the gowns.
The collection was indeed aptly named, for it seemed an aura of light shone around each of the couture gowns the models donned. Bowie himself referred to the collection as the one ‘of his dreams,’ and after seeing it, it’s one of ours, too.
