Fashionistas the world over all know that Haute Couture is all about creating a dream, with designs shown during couture week being capable of transporting both showgoers and those watching from afar to another world, where sequins and tulle are uniform and Lagerfeld is king. This time, it was the Valentino show that swept us up in to the fairytale world of couture and made us feel like princesses do live happily ever after.
One of the most exciting things about couture is that designers are free to explore and create their most intimate fantasies, bringing their imaginations to life on the runway, and the House of Valentino did just that on the final day of Haute Couture week. Designers Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri revealed dresses of delicate lace and intricate embellishments dominated, with signature Valentino soft colour palette and girlish bows complemented perfectly by beads, sequins and stones. The fairytale princess of the couture world, Valentino’s latest looks included floor length gowns with floral undertones and long, lace sleeves, layered bodices and handwoven floral detailing. Embroided dress coats with oversized bows were also shown, paired with flowing gowns that looked to be made for a grand ballroom.
Feminine and romantic, the Valentino show was perhaps the perfect way to end Couture week: glamourous, yet not overbearing. Just what we love about Valentino.
