Isabel Marant presented a Spring/Summer 2012 collection during Paris Fashion Week on Friday paying homage to the care-free bohemian traveler. There was a myriad of colour in the form of knit dresses, tie-dye pants and patchwork denim. The collection had a sporty and youthful feel, making me think of road trips in my teens or traveling around Europe in my 20s. The show began with a chunky knit multi colour dress closely followed by a vibrant orange tie-dye body-con dress with a zip jacket casually thrown over. This was closely followed by a red tie-dye jeans and t-shirt combination and some orange track pants.
Denim featured heavily in the collection (a staple of Marant’s) but it is also making a comeback for Spring and Summer this year. Isabel updated denim by using patchwork detail on dresses, staying away from the traditional blue hues and using pinks, oranges and reds and tie-dying jeans. What also stood out in the collection was the interesting combination of cobalt track pants and white lace trapeze top.
However, the real crowd pleasers remained the evening dresses towards the end of the show. Our pick – a ruched black dress with chain strap detail or the bohemian embroidered studded mini.
