She was arguably one of Australia’s most well known fashion illustrators, now Kerrie Hess returns with a new book entitled Shoestring Chic. Fans (like us) will probably remember her illustrations for the likes of Vogue, Vogue’s Fashion Night Out Sydney 2010, Neiman Marcus and Tatler magazines, as well as her beauty line Femme Fatale Cosmetics with her sister. Now based in Paris, Hess has been working on a new book that is all about style on a budget and she’s enlisted the help of friends like Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton from Sass & Bide and Collette Dinnigan.
A self-belief tome as much as it is a beautiful coffee table book, Shoestring Chic is full of 101 Ways to Live the Fashionably Luxe Life for Less. Want to know what Sass & Bide and Collette Dinnigan said about style on a budget? Well Kerrie sent us a few snippets:
- Collette Dinnigan
“Fashion is about personal style – freedom to have a sense of self… Luxe always plays an important part in my fashion philosophy, but simple whimsical elegance is a must!” - Sarah-Jane Clarke
“Staying chic while traveling is a challenge for even the most prepared… I swear by my cashmere throw and possum boots for a good rest while flying, and a picture of my two boys to feel like home!” - Heidi Middleton
“Chic travel is feeling at home in new and unfamiliar surrounds. I never leave without my goose down pillow as it fits into my carryon, and allows my to sleep beautifully on flights. Also photos of my beautiful girls and my rainbow bracelet remind me of all that is extraordinary in life.”
