Ottavio Missoni turned 90 this year and his family have paid tribute to their patriarch by having him star in the Missoni Fall Winter 2011-12 advertising campaign. Entitled A Wonderful Life, the campaign was created by Juergen Teller and see’s the man nicknamed Tai modelling alongside models Kinga Rajzak, Valerja Kelava, Kristina Salinovic and Kaitlin Aas.
Tai gives the ad campaign a behind-the-scenes feel to what would have been a beautifully ethereal campaign – if not for the plastic outdoor furniture in some of the images. According to the release:
The photographic sequence thrills, entices and destabilises the viewer, taking a contemporary look at subjects and atmospheres with the air of seventeenth-century art.
We’re not sure where the idea of seventeenth-century art comes into play with this campaign, but the models are quite striking with their dark hair and bold lips while the clothes almost fade into the background.
Missoni’s A Wonderful Life F/W 2011-12 campaign, shot in the Alberoni Reserve at the Venice Lido, follows their previous Family Portrait and Family and Friends campaigns, showcasing the solid family bond the Italian fashion house have.

Meanwhile in the accompanying video, Kinga Rajzak, Valerja Kelava, Kristina Salinovic and Kaitlin Aas take focus in a film by Mel Bles. The film shows off the movement of the Missioni Fall/Winter 2011-12 collection by using clever lighting and editing as the models twirl and swing their arms around to show off the beautiful coats and soft fluttering chiffon pieces.
A beautiful video, but in an aged when Miu Miu are bringing us films like the stunning Muta and House of Holland gives us fun videos like their Eliza Cummings vs Neneh Cherry video, we expect a lot more from a fashion house as big as Missoni.
What the video below and let us know what you think.
