She’s stylish, oh so hip and she’s in Sydney, Australia. We broke the news last month that Alexa Chung was set to hit Australian stores for 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty as the international ambassador and the word spread like wide fire amongst her legion of fans.
With a US reality TV show in the works with the working title 24 Hour Catwalk (think Project Runway-esque) and a fashion line for Madewell proves that Chung’s fashion credentials go beyond her ability to style herself. In a press conference this morning she spoke about her love of Australian designer brands like Lover, Antipodium and Dion Lee who she discovered recently. Chung spoke about how Antipodium were one of the first brands to lend her clothes when she was first starting out in television back in London and how she was grateful for that.
Wearing a Chanel dress and Alexander Wang shoes, Chung made the crowd laugh when she named Mick Jagger and Brian Jones as her hair idols. When asked what she asks her hairdresser for when she gets her hair done, the reply was simply “thicker and lighter” because she hates her ears and wishes her hair was thicker.
Proving that she is a 60s girl at heart, Chung revealed her tracklist for DJs set for the 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty launch party would feature a songs from the 1960s.
Also revealed at the press conference was the October 2011 cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia. We can’t wait to see more of Alexa around town for 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty and catch footage of her DJ’ing at the opening party tomorrow night.
Alexa Chung is the 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty international ambassador, alongside local model/ambassadors Alyssa Sutherland, Sarah Stephens and Heidi Harrington-Johnson.
