Known for their amazing limited edition collections MAC Cosmetics have outdone themselves with their Semi-Precious Mineralize Eye Shadows, in particular with the Hint of Sapphire shade. A “mélange” of pink, violet, teal, copper and blue, the shadow sparkles and shimmers in its compact as well as out. On the skin it offers a shimmery lilac shadow on the skin with shiny flecks of all five colours shimmering though, perfect for a light shadow application and as a great highlighter shade. Now that we’ve spent a bit of time with the Hint of Sapphire, we’re kind of chomping at the bit to play with the Rare Find, a mélange of violet, brown and gold.

We’ve been programmed to think that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but a beautiful gem stone is hardly a shabby step sister. Instead of waiting for a man to shower you in jewels, there is nothing stopping us to adorn ourselves with jewels, especially ones from Swarovski. I don’t usually tend to side towards the bling-bling things in life, but when I laid my eyes of the new Swarovski Autumn/Winter 2011 collection – in particular the Poison range – it was love at first sight.
Like a diamond in the rough, the Poison range has larger Swarovski crystal nestle amongst a series of smaller dark stones, like the crystal’s beauty has only partially discovered. We have our eye on the gold pendant necklace (almost like the ring pictured above), but the collection also includes a ring (in both silver and gold options) and the seven-stone necklace which features both jewels.
