If you follow us on Twitter, you probably saw that yesterday Australian department store David Jones held their semi-annual casting session for their upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 runway show yesterday and we were invited to come along for the ride. A chance to hang out with 250+ leggy and good looking models? Why not, I haven’t felt short and over 25 years of age in months.
According to the press release, David Jones were looking to cast “top Australian and International models to walk in the David Jones Summer 2011 Fashion Launch. The casting is an opportunity for models from top Australian agencies to walk alongside David Jones Fashion Ambassador, Miranda Kerr who will be returning to the catwalk on August 3rd.”
So what happened? Well it was like any other model casting…. models show up in droves with their portfolio’s in hand and heels on their feet, they queue up in a room full of their peers to strut in front of Kelvin Harries, David Jones’ stylist and casting manager.
But what exactly were they looking for? “We are looking for healthy, fresh faced models,” Kelvin told us.
It was interesting to see which models got asked to strut more than once, though even if you have been modelling for a while like former Australia’s Next Top Model winner Alice Burdeau and Kate Peck, you still had to show up and attend the casting.
And in case you were wondering, the cheeky model who showed with a t-shirt that read ‘F#*k Fashion Let’s Smoke Menthols‘ wasn’t asked to walk twice.
It may a great experience with David Jones
