Last week as part of the Cannes celebrations, Roberto Cavalli hosted a party on his yacht called the RC. And who should pop up but the glamorous Restoin Roitfeld family with former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld flanked by her son Vladimir and Cavalli himself for press images, while daughter Julia Restoin Roitfeld attended with boyfriend Robert Konjic.
Wearing a sheer black dress (so sheer that under the bright lights we can see that the chic editor chose not to wear a bra) with her much-loved Azzedine Alaia lace-up sandals. There is no word yet as to what Carine is up to besides a creative direction gig for Barney’s, she recently spoke to the Financial Times and answered a few pressing questions.
On why she lefts French Vogue:
“When I started I said I would not stay for ever, a maximum of 10 years. You know, I could stay six months more but it’s good to leave when you are in the highest position, and I think I did a lot at Vogue.”
On the new editor of French Vogue, Emanuelle Alt:
“We aren’t friends any more. I think it’s sad. When you give a lot of confidence in people and you don’t get it back you are a bit disappointed but it’s life. I move on.”
On her work with Barney’s:
Mario Sorrenti will shoot them on a group of Roitfeld’s family and friends, as well as her “family” of top models and faces such as Bambou, the French singer and wife of the late Serge Gainsbourg, and Victoire de Castellane, jewellery designer for Dior.
