Spring/Summer 2011-12 shows have begun in earnest this week, before Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) kicks off next week. First cab off the rank was LIFEwithBird with their spring/summer 2011 collection entitled The Way. We arrived bright and early to the Boutwell Draper Gallery to be thoughtfully greeted by a coffee and a stark room as the setting for what was going to be a refined minimalism collection from Nicholas Van Messner and Bridget McCall.
The designing duo proves that shades of white and beige creates an ethereal collection where a loose silhouette is complemented by soft tailoring and subtle shapes. We loved the sheer blazer and pretty t-shirt style tops but we’re at a loss at how this could work in our wardrobes. Unless of course, like the models, our modesty is kept in place thanks to Nearly Nude who supplied the undergarments visible under the layered pieces.
It was a collection of two parts with the L.W.B. LIFEwithBIRD Classics collection complementing the main line collection with beautiful white, lilac, grey, beige and pale pink pieces inspired by hydrangeas. Bringing in a bit more tailoring, the L.W.B. collection gives us versatile jackets which feature a zip so you can wear it cropped or full length, tailored shorts and pretty draped tops and dresses.
Combine the LIFEwithBird Spring/Summer 2011-12 collection with the L.W.B. collection and we think they have your pretty summer wardrobe set.
