Earth Hour is in its fourth year this year and we’re giving you a fashionable reminder to switch off your lights for an hour from 8:30pm tomorrow on March 26th. Of course you’ll need an abundance of candles to you can still have a giggle friends or create a romantic evening with a special guy. So we’ve found two Australian brands that have beautiful soy wax candles that are environmentally friendly.
Why soy wax candles? Because candles made from soy wax generates up to 90% less soot than paraffin wax so the carbon emissions are lower even more. And two Australian brands are our personal favourites…
Our first pick is the Ecoya Natural Soy Wax candle in Green Fig which will see $2 from the sale of each go to WWF. The scent is beautiful and subtle, not at all fig-ish – the boys in my house are secretly big fans. We hope the city lights you can see from my house will be off tomorrow though!
We were recently introduced to Circa Home, its parent company is actually my personal favourite when it comes to scented candles, Glasshouse. With Circa Home, they’ve paid extra attention to the reusable and recyclable nature of the products, as well as with the use of natural ingredients – the candles are made with non-toxic natural soy wax and lead-free cotton wicks, while the packaging is 100% recyclable and the glass jars is made using recycled glass. Not to mention you can reuse the jar as a vase or a makeup brush holder.
We were given a sneak peek at the new Circa Home Slim candles (in stores on Monday March 28th) but the larger versions are in store now.
