Earlier this month it was announced via Daria Werbowy cover news that a new magazine was set to be launched called Industrie with the Canadian model on the cover. Instead it seems that the 3-week old news may have been misinformed because it seems the queen bee of the fashion industry Anna Wintour may have been crowned the cover girl of the inaugural issue of a magazine that proclaims it is “the world’s first culture of fashion magazine”.
If the coverlines are anything to go by, the first issue features: Natalie Massenet, Tom Florio, Karl Templer, Luis Venegas, Panos Tiapanis, Solve Sundsso, Rick Owens, Katie Grand, Patrick Demarchelier, Giles Deacon, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lara Stone and Daria Werbowy. And one more about “when editors become cover stars”.
Interesting concept or publicity stunt?
Not much has been written about the magazine besides the fact that it’s set to be an industry focused magazine. Now if someone could hunt down a copy (as well as a masthead) and post it online that would be fantastic.
Update: The Business of Fashion have an exclusive preview of some of Industrie‘s features and their masthead.
Ha! Mags and brands are moving back toward using more models and less celebs… now Anna Wintour (who spurred the celeb craze) is a celeb in her own right and appearing on cover. How wonderfully ironic.

I was excited to see the first issue on sale – lots of promise, but unfortunately Industrie Magazine failed deliver the first ‘culture of fashion’ magazine status. Maybe issue 2 will come together better than issue 1 – I hope so, but I will most likely be leaving it on the shelf. This magazine should stick to being a blog.
