You take a few days to get settled into a new job and one of the biggest stories of the year (so far) explodes. What am I talking about? The allegations that Terry Richardson is one of the most pervy photographers around. Being pervy is one thing, but the disturbing fact is that everyone knows what he does and the fashion hierarchy still supports him by hiring him for high profile jobs.
So far more than a handful of models and stylists have come out to tell their side of their story through Jezebel, while others have defended his actions as ‘not pushing you to do anything you don’t feel comfortable in doing’:

Yesterday Richardson himself took a moment to speak out on his own blog:
I just want to take a moment to say I’m really hurt by the recent and false allegations of insensitivity and misconduct. I feel fortunate to work with so many extraordinary people each and every day. I’ve always been considerate and respectful of the people I photograph and I view what I do as a real collaboration between myself and the people in front of the camera. To everyone who has embraced and supported me and my work, I am so grateful. Thank you, it means a lot.
But one only has to look at some of his photo shoots to wonder what kind of power he wields over young models and celebrities who are desperate to impress.
What do you think of the whole scandal?
