Sportsgirl – if you’re introducing overseas friends to this high street brand all you have to say is “Topshop”. And truth be told you wouldn’t be too far from the truth with Sportsgirl head office employing more than a handful of former Topshop head office staff. So it comes as no surprise that a few weeks ago that Sportsgirl officially launched their beauty range About Face (much like the news that Topshop will do likewise next year) and we were impressed.
When it comes to all things beauty I have never been enamored by the likes of MAC like many of my friends, I hate paying for the likes of Chanel and YSL so when I glance over at my beauty products I’m happy to say there is a mix of Rimmel, MAC, Shisedo, Estee Lauder, Clinique and now Sportsgirl there.
Yes Sportsgirl.
Like most beauty launches (not that we go to many) the goody bag usually consists of a few products for you to take home and try. Sportsgirl were more than generous with their goody bag we we got to go home and play with the Sportsgirl’s About Face range – which is priced from AUD$7.95 – $19.95. We all know that a few dollars here and there can make the difference between whether or not you buy something so it is an absolute bargain when I think about how my current mascara, the Daringly Defined mascara will set you back only $12.95. It’s counterpart defining mascara by Maybelline and L’Oreal will set you back at least another $5 – $10 more and it all adds up when you think about all the products you use and restock every few months. After all, you could use that extra change for another coffee or paying for that bus fare home to avoid the walk.
My other personal favourite is the Draw the Line eyeliner which has a soft tip but goes on almost as bold as liquid eyeliner. The pencil twists up and down and comes with a smudger and sharpener for the reccessionista friendly price of $9.95. If I must go on, I am loving Shady Lady eye colour (in night shift), the nail polishes, the great blush… and so much more.
But instead of reading about what I like, I suggest you get down to a Sportsgirl store and check out the 32-piece beauty range yourself. With such great former Topshop and The Body Shop staffers on their payroll, this Australian fashion chain has shown the world that it means business when it comes to bringing their fans something great for an affordable price – much like their clothing and accessories range.
P.S. If you love to glam it up and hit the town, I suggest you check out the Star in Your Eyes glitter liquid eyeliner and the Lighten Up Lip Gloss which comes with inbuilt light and mirror, both retail for just $9.95.
