Bypassing the British Fashion Council’s 25th anniversary celebrations this season was designer duo, Preen. The British couple stuck around in New York to present their frock-filled Spring/Summer 2010 collection. “We love New York and we love London,” Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi explained to Style.com via email before the show.
Referencing graphic lines, Corinne Day and early 1990s, Preen incorporated elements of floaty dresses with bandage-style shoes. Light, feminine pieces were toughened up around the edges with ribbon and cord. My favourite pieces are the patchwork-style structured pants and wide-shouldered breezy jackets. Also the flashes of candy pink and sunflower yellow left few in doubt that colour is holding court for another S/S season.
