Known for his show stopping gowns, Elie Saab has consistently created show stopping gowns season after season and is finally branching out into the world of beauty. The Lebanese designer who shows in Paris every ready-to-wear and Haute Couture season has signed a 10-year licensing deal with Beaute Prestige International to distribute Elie Saab perfumes and cosmetics.
“The creation of perfume has become an essential step for the development of our fashion house,” Saab said. “We have chosen, in BPI, a partner with equally high ambitions. Our collaboration will allow us to construct a signature smell and image that is in tune with the DNA of our brand.”
BPI have been creating extremely successful beauty products with the likes of Issey Miyake, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Narciso Rodriguez for over 15 years so it should be interesting to see what they have in store with Elie Saab.
No word on when Saab’s first fragrance will be launched, but one can assume the earliest offering will hit shelves in time for the holiday season 2010 or early 2011.
