Fashion designers are flocking to the cartoons lately, two years ago Harper’s Bazaar took the Simpsons to Paris with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace and Jean Paul Gauilter, now some of America’s top designers have paid a visit to Sesame Street for their 40th anniversary.
The September 2009 issue of US Harper’s Bazaar sees Diane von Furstenberg hang out with Big Bird, Vera Wang with Abby Cadabby in a Laundromat, Derek Lam & Thakoon Panichgul with Bert & Ernie on some steps, Francisco Costa with Grover by a fire escape, Carolina Herrera hanging out with Elmo, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte enjoying the Cookie Monster’s company while Oscar de la Renta pays a visit to his namesake Oscar the Grouch.
It’s an adorable editorial but I do wish they had dolled up the Sesame Street gang in some designer clothes and not just the model.
Check out all the photos at HarpersBazaar.com.
I was impressed with the designs, and my daughter was impressed with the characters ^_^
Really over this cartoon fetish that is going on right now. Boring….
