It was on the steps of Casa Casuarina that Gianni Versace was murdered, and it was on this historical moment that the mansion built an aura of mystic and history around it – it’s reportedly the third most photographed house in America behind The White House and Graceland (though I’m sure Michael Jackson’s Neverland will rise above it soon).
This short video takes us into the house that was Gianni’s home from 1992 until his death in 1997. While it has since been purchased by Peter Loftin, Casa Casuarina is now a members-only club and luxury boutique hotel which is rarely seen in photos other than those on their website. You can visit Casa Casuarina on some of their guided tours or stay for about £650 a night – choose from the luxurious rooms which were designed for Allegra and Daniel Beck, or Santo and Donatella Versace’s suites.
The Versace family may have left the property, but it Casa Casurina’s and its mystic as the Versace mansion remains.
