After watching The September Issue on Thursday (more on that tomorrow), I grew a little less in love with Sienna Miller after seeing her through Vogue eyes, so needless to say I was a little surprised to see her grinning away on the July 2009 cover of US Vogue.
Admittedly, she looks stunning in a one shouldered Alexander Wang dress (pre fall 09?), accessorized with some eye catch jewelery and paired with sleek hair. But there is the niggling fact that in The September Issue, the Vogue team (Anna Wintour included) had issues with Sienna’s toothy-ness and her terrible hair, “which she refused to cut” according to one staffer in the docoumentary.
So why would you ask her back for another cover so quickly?
Perhaps it was to show the world (before The September Issue has a general release in September 2009) that Vogue do love Sienna, even after their comments in the documentary. Or her publicist has pulled out all the stops on the promotional trail for her latest movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Broadway appearance.
Love or hair the cover choice, this is a much more eye catching shoot (photographed by Craig McDean) than the one set in Rome for the September 2007 issue. The colour contrast is sharper with the smooth backdrop allowing the clothes and the actress to shine through. While not breathtaking, it’s US Vogue.
