The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have announced that they hope Beyonce Knowles and her new husband, Jay-Z enjoy a lifetime of happiness together, as a peace offering to the fur loving (reportedly) newlywed couple.
Known for her love of designer furs, Beyonce even used fur in her designs for House of Dereon which made her a public target for PETA. They even ambushed her in 2006 when they won an eBay auction to have dinner with her and took the opportunity to confront her about her fur loving ways with a graphic DVD which shoes how animals are skinned alive for their fur.
Perhaps Beyonce has changed her ways or the sound of wedding bells can soften the PETA hearts because they released a statement for the newlyweds.
“From all of us at PETA, we wish you much happiness in your life together. Please accept this faux-fur throw with many good wishes and a hope from us that together, you’ll be a fur-free couple!”
“Time will tell if Beyonce is truly committed to being fur-free, but all indications are that she’s become a real ‘Dreamgirl’ for fur-bearing animals,” added Lisa Lange, PETA’s Senior Vice President.
