Donna Karan’s younger brand, DKNY was made for the girls on Gossip Girl, British Glamour and Teen Vogue this fall 2008/09 season. With a theme of Electric Glamour, Donna could hardly go wrong yesterday at New York fashion Week.
The empire line and mini skirt length was back with a vengeance this season, in various jewel toned shades in luxurious jacquard fabrics, wool knits and silk georgettes. It was where sweet strapless empire line dresses with full mini skirts were accessorized with fabulous knits, or plaid jackets with a knitted scarf, tights and a heel. There were also 70s style bow blouses, slouchy wide-leg pants and fringe dresses. It was a real electric Times Square colour experience, with pops of reds, blues, gold and purple making an appearance.
As Karan says the show is “Urban, its about the street, it’s eclectic, has an attitude about it, but is young in spirit”.
“Everything has a luxe spin, a textured hand – jewel colours, opulent weaves, vintage-inspired blocked patterns made modern with a pared-down polish and ease. These are young, spirited clothes that travel your life with refreshing optimism and authentic New York style.”
