Diane von Furstenberg’s fall 2008/09 collection was a Foreign Affair, taking us first to Berlin, Shanghai and then Manhattan with everything cinched at the waist with a skinny leather belt.
Straying from her signature dress-filled collections, the fall collection was inspired by the glamour of the fourties, with pussybow blouses paired with trousers or pencil skirts, then a cardigan over the top and cinched in with a skinny belt. Even oversized coats didn’t escape the skinny belt treatment, with slinky slips and flapper style sequined dresses peeking out underneath, the belt often seemed like the tie that bound the collection together.
While dresses wasn’t central to her collection, DvF’s signature wrap dress was given a slight makeover, reappearing the form of a metallic floor length sleeveless gown. In jersey of course.
DVF is going back to her ladylike roots for Fall, with electric styling, topped with greens, purples. Lovely.
