Diane von Furstenberg’s first footwear collection for spring 2008

While Diane von Furstenberg won’t be collaborating with a high street store any time soon, she is getting ready to launch a spring 2008 collection of footwear – her first full lime.

“I wanted to create power shoes for the woman on-the-go and on her feet,” said von Furstenberg. “My shoes are not just pretty accessories; they are functional and serve a purpose. Women on-the-go need power, comfort, and fashion.”

Her debut shoe collection will consist of 12 different looks, which FashionWeekDaily reports will be based on the principles of strength, support and style. There will be shoes for the working girl, “comfy chic” girls, and nighttime elegance looks (all pictured above – all metallic).

Selected design recently made their debut in her recent runway shows, with the full collection arriving in Diane von Furstenberg shops around the world in February, priced from $195 to $350, with novelty pairs priced at $400 and up.

I like the sandals, but the other shoes don’t do it for me. It should be interesting to see how a woman who redefined fashion with the wrap dress adds to the growing shoe market. I won’t be replacing my Choos, Manolo’s or Louboutins for DVF’s yet though.

Well she certainly looks to have achieved her aim of making them wearable. I think they are lovely looking shoes, that look very wearable. However, I am unsure as to how appropriate they are for the office. I’m not sure how sturdy work shoes would look?
