Jeanne Beker and Tom Ford shows us inside the designers’ new New York store on Madison Avenue. The idea behind the store was for it to be the ideal bachelor pad to change the way men shop. Well men who could actually afford to shop at Tom Ford.
The store is amazing, with an entire room dedicated to shirting that only contains ready to wear shirts. From the room of shirts, you can choose from 340 colours, 30 fabrics, 5 collars, and 3 cuffs. There are some decent prices to go along with having the advantage of so many choices, dress shirts start from $350, with socks starting at $74, a suit off the rack $3500, and a custom made suit starting at $5000.
It was interesting to here Ford comment on the fact that as you get older, a waist cost starts to become a corset for men, disguising the beginnings of a belly.
P.S. You can buy underwear to match your shirts too.
After watching that video, if you still want to see more of the Texan designer, check out his appearance on Martha Stewart on Tuesday. Ford presented an informal fashion show of four looks from his recently launched eponymous men’s line and shares the recipe for one of his favorite treats: pecan pralines.
Video from the show is on MarthaStewart.com now.
