I’ve been a fan of Anna Thomas since I happened to be working backstage at one of her winter collection shows in Melbourne. Known for her crisp tailoring Anna’s Rosemont Australian Fashion Week spring summer 2008 collection was like a fresh spring day where the buds are blooming and bird are singing. It reminded me of a summer garden party complete with a jug of Pimms and little finger sandwiches without their crusts.
Utterly wearable, the Anna Thomas spring summer 2008 collection featured crisp pieces in white, navy, bright green with hints of orange and a few bold prints. Anna stuck to her tailoring roots by showing pieces that were boxy, pinched in the waist, or pleated so that the material flowed. What did I love most? The bright green coloured pieces, and the polka dot bow ties that were left untied and sitting on the lapels.
This show was reminiscent of what brought Luella Bartley to the forefront of British fashion design at the turn of the century. Anna’s modern and sophisticated interpretation of today’s popular trends was just darling to watch.
Did we mention that the cute waiters wore them while handing us all a glass of champagne? Yellowglen’s new Jewel bubbly that has 30% less calories and 40% less alcohol to be exact.
Check out the video thanks to YouTube, Fashion TV and New Woman magazine after the fold. There is a great explanation of how the cute pony tails were put together.
