Just surfing through the WWD and they finally caught on to the news that Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., has acquired Vogue Australia.
The deal was announced early November, and it also includes FPC’s stable of 25 titles which includes the other Vogue titles Vogue Entertaining + Travel, Vogue Living and GQ.
A spokesman for News Ltd. said the company planned to “develop and grow” the Vogue brand in Australia, but gave no details. It should be interesting to see what they do with the fashion magazine which competes with Australian Harpers Bazaar for prime position in the fashion stakes in Australia.
First on my list of things to develop, well redevelop, would be the Vogue Australia website which doesn’t have a distinct feel or reason for people to visit it. Besides the forum of course. But as they say, it’s not very “vogue”.
