Minus one of the new crew, Dita von Teese, Lisa Marie Presley, and Eve gathered at the Rainbow Room to launch the MAC Viva Glam VI campaign.
The three women, minus Debra Harry who was there via satellite, firmly clutched the $14 M.A.C. terracotta plum lipstick and terracotta peach lipglass as they spoke to the media.
“Safe sex is sexy,” Von Teese said, noting she’d worn three Vivia Glam lipsticks that day. “Five million lipsticks have been sold to date. That’s more than I’ll ever have in my boudoir.”
Launched 12 years ago, the MAC AIDS fund donates 100% of the retail price of the VIVA Glam lipsticks and lip glasses to the fund, which was set up to support men, women, and children stricken by AIDS and HIV.
It has raised over $70 million dollars and helped 600 organisations in more than 50 countried. John Demsey, global president of MAC cosmetics and chairman of the MAC AIDS fund is aiming to exceed $100 million in the next two years.
The new campaign shot by Michael Thompson will be seen in magazines in the coming months and the spokeswomen will make TV and in store appearances all over the world.
So isn’t it time you pick up a MAC Viva Glam lipstick or lip glass?
Note: May I just mention that I guessed that the MAC Viva Glam VI colours would be a peach / pink? Well I actually said “peachy pink or red”, which I think is close enough to terracotta.
